​HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital is recognizing heart month by having the tiniest of patients raise awareness about preventing heart disease. Every baby born at St. Mary’s in the month of February will receive a red onesie helping make parents and loved ones aware of heart disease.

Heart disease causes one in every four deaths in the United States and is the leading cause of death for both men and women. Fortunately, there are ways to reduce your chances of being diagnosed with heart disease.

HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital and the Decatur Family YMCA are offering free fitness classes each month.

With flu season hitting a peak in central Illinois, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) recommends health care facilities adhere to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) comprehensive influenza prevention and control recommendations.
