High risk pregnancies

High-risk pregnancies require special care. At St. Mary's Hospital, our team has the training and expertise to provide you and your baby with the highest level of care. 

Women with special concerns about their pregnancy, delivery or the health of their newborn can count on the St. Mary's Womens and Infants Center.

  • High-risk mothers include those with high blood pressure, maternal diabetes, genetic risk factors or other complications.
  • High-risk newborns include those with special medical complications, those born too early, too small or too fragile to survive without exceptional care. 
Our OB physicians partner with Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) at HSHS St. John’s Hospital. High risk patients often see the local OB and the MFM. The OB and MFM partner to determine the best place for the patient to deliver.
