Cardiovascular Services at St. Mary's Hospital

HSHS St. Mary's Hospital is committed to providing the best cardiology care possible to Decatur and the surrounding communities. Our partnership with nationally-recognized Prairie Heart Institute of Illinois means you don't have to look any further for advanced heart care.

When you need more than a doctor, when you need a heart specialist, Prairie Heart has the answer. From high cholesterol to high blood pressure, aneurysms to arrhythmia, chest pain to cardiac care, the experts at Prairie Heart are prepared to stand by your side throughout your journey towards a healthy heart.

Your comprehensive cardiac care team includes exceptionally trained, experienced and compassionate physicians and clinicians. If cardiovascular rehabilitation is needed, HSHS St. Mary’s provides a high-quality and convenient experience.

St. Mary’s cardiac catheterization lab is digitally connected to the Prairie Heart Institute in Springfield. If a problem is found during the catheterization, interventional cardiology procedures are performed at St. Mary’s Hospital by experienced Prairie interventional cardiologists.

Prairie physicians also perform electrophysiology procedures at St. Mary’s Hospital to diagnose and treat arrhythmias (heartbeat disorders).

St. Mary’s newly-renovated vascular lab is used to treat peripheral arterial disease. The recent upgrades allows St. Mary’s physicians to better care for patients suffering from those effects and patients often leave the hospital already feeling a difference in blood flow.
